What We Do

Who We Are

The Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area is a local chapter of Kiwanis International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.

Our club brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, and professions who share a common passion for service. Through hands-on projects, fundraising, and partnerships, we work to strengthen communities and help children thrive, right here in Batavia, Geneva, North Aurora, and beyond.

Globally, Kiwanis members contribute millions of service hours each year and support thousands of service projects. Locally, we focus on making a visible, meaningful impact close to home.

Why Our Work Matters

Communities are strongest when people come together to support children and families. Schools, nonprofits, parks, healthcare organizations, and social service agencies all benefit when volunteers step up to help meet real needs.

Our hands-on service projects not only improve lives, but they also save communities significant resources by providing skilled volunteer labor, leadership, and funding support. By working together, we are able to create greater impact than any one organization could alone.

How We Serve Our Community

The Kiwanis Club of Batavia Geneva Area supports a wide range of local organizations and initiatives, including:

  • Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation
  • Kiwanis International Children’s Fund
  • Association for Individual Development (AID)
  • Northern Illinois Food Bank
  • Lazarus House
  • Kane County Adopt-A-Spot
  • Valley Sheltered Workshop
  • Tri-City Salvation Army
  • Cal’s Angels
  • RSVP Batavia
  • Geneva Park District
  • Batavia Park District
  • And many other local partners

Our service takes many forms, from volunteering and donations to hands-on projects that directly benefit children, individuals with disabilities, and families in need.

Signature Projects & Fundraising

Our fundraising efforts allow us to support local programs, award scholarships, and fund meaningful service initiatives throughout the year. Some of our key events include:

  • Peanut Days
  • Annual Spaghetti Dinner
  • Bowl-A-Thon
  • Butterbraids Fundraiser

In addition, we are proud to host and support signature community projects such as:

  • “Fun on the Farm” with Cal’s Angels at Windy Acres Farm (held every fall)
  • Snack sponsorship for Valley Sheltered Workshop

Every dollar raised stays focused on improving the lives of children and families in our local communities.

Service Leadership Programs (SLP)

One of the most important ways we serve is by developing the next generation of leaders through Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs. These programs focus on leadership development, character building, and service to others.

We proudly sponsor nine youth leadership programs throughout Batavia and Geneva, including:

  • K-Kids at all six Batavia elementary schools
  • Builders Club at Rotolo Middle School
  • Key Club at Batavia High School and Geneva High School

Through these programs, students learn the value of service, teamwork, and civic responsibility, skills that benefit them for life.

Serving Beyond Our Community

While our primary focus is local, Kiwanians also serve children around the world. Through global partnerships, including work with UNICEF, Kiwanis supports initiatives that improve maternal and child health, fight disease, and create safer futures for children worldwide.

When you support your local Kiwanis club, you are helping children both here at home and across the globe.

How Our Work Is Funded

Every Kiwanis project is unique. Our service efforts are funded through a combination of:

  • Club fundraising events
  • Member donations
  • Grants from Kiwanis International and local Kiwanis foundations
  • Support from community partners and sponsors

This collaborative approach allows us to maximize impact while keeping costs low and service outcomes high.
